Procedure for Liquid Penetrant examination

Image
LIQUID PENETRANT EXAMINATION (PT) Pentrant Testing is surface defects detection method, the method can be used on any material ( i.e: Ferrous/ non-ferrous, conductive/ non conductive, metals/ non metals) But PT is limited to materials having porous surface or very rough surface. PT can be carried out on castings, raw material, machined faces and weld joints. It is more often used in Austenitic Stainless Steels, where MPI inspection is not practically possible.   Most standards insist that the penetrant materials used, should not contain contaminants that spoil the quality of weld and metals.( contaminants such as Sulphur, Chlorine & halogens )   Penetrant materials are mostly suitable for materials with surface temperature less than 52°C. Therefore the weld has to allowed to cool before carrying out PT test on it. Liquid penetrant testing principle Any PT inspection on elevated temperature (temperature other than 4°C to 52°C), should have special ...

Penetrant testing principle and advantages

Image
›Penetrant Testing is one of the effective method for detecting surface flaws,. ›It can be used on Metals, non-metals, plastics, ceramics & Glass. ›Not suitable for Porous materials such as wood, bricks, concrete, & other non graded castings, sponge Qualification of Examination Personel ›Able to read a Jaeger Type No. 2 Standard Chart at a distance of not less than 12 in. (300 mm), ›Should be capable of distinguishing and differentiating contrast between colors used. ›These requirements shall be checked annually. ›Should clear the Examinations with percentage stated in ASNT SNT-TC-1A Basic Principle ›Capillary Action – Low surface tension fluid( dye) penetrates in to clean and dry defects open to the surface. Advantages of PT ›High sensitivity to small surface discontinuities. ›Vast application -metallic and nonmetallic, magnetic and nonmagnetic, and conductive and nonconductive materials may be inspected. ›Large areas and large volumes of parts/materia...

Liquid Penetrant Testing PT/LPT Inspection Service

Image
PT / LPT Liquid Penetrant Testing inspection  services are carried out for finding Surface defects, on almost any material except very rough or porous surface materials such as poor cast iron material. Advanced Quality Centre  offers India’s best NDT Inspection Service and we are the most trusted and reliable testing company. We provide Die Penetrant Testing Service, both visible and fluorescent method DP testings are carried out. What is Liquid Penetrant Testing? Liquid or Die Penetrant Testing DPT is a surface defect detection method. Penetrant Testing involves pouring die over the perfectly cleaned surface of the material  and the poured die is allowed to penetrate into the defects. The penetrant thus entered the discontinuities are exposed to developer and the developer sucks out the die and visual presents us the defects as bleed out. PT is generally carried out on any raw material, root weld, finished weld, repaired surface, machined surface or any mat...
